I Don't Need No Steenking Type!

I don't know my blood type. I suppose that's something rather important to find out, but I kind of like not knowing. I think the mystery keeps my relationship with myself fresh and exciting. ;)

Be thankful you don't have to live with me.

Interesting.

This past weekend I attended the Fourth Annual Alternative Press Fair here in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Various small presses spread their wares out on tables and invited attendees to sign up on their email lists. On at least two different sign-up sheets, to the right of the "name" and "email address" columns, was "blood type."

I don't know mine either, but I was happy to see that previous signees had noted "red" and "bloody." I think I might have written "wet," for lack of anything better.

For most of my juvenile life, I believed my type was A- (contrary to what all of my report cards read). Then after giving blood twice, I find that I am O- and while that's great because I can sustain life in just about everyone on the planet, I would've been screwed if I'd had to have any really major surgeries before the age of 25.

B negative. It's second only to AB negative as the rarest blood type on the planet. See everybody - I AM TOO UNIQUE.

Those of you who are O negative and B negative can donate blood to me.

Speak up now so I can add you to my palm pilot address book. You might get a call if I get particularily needy someday.
